Should I dispute with all three bureaus at once?

Dispute with every bureau that is actually reporting the error, and only those. Each bureau keeps its own file, so a correction at Equifax does nothing at Experian or TransUnion. No bureau gets a dispute about an item it isn't reporting.

The rule: dispute where the error lives

Each bureau maintains its own independent file on you. When a bureau deletes or corrects an item after a dispute, that change applies to that bureau's file only. If the same error sits on all three reports, it takes three disputes to clear it everywhere.

The flip side matters too: there is no reason to dispute with a bureau that isn't reporting the item. A bureau can't investigate something that isn't in its file.

Why the same error shows up differently

Furnishers don't always report to all three bureaus, and the bureaus process data independently. A collection account might appear on two reports with different balances, or only on one. That is normal, and it is why the same underlying error can need different letters at different bureaus.

What happens after CreditRefresh sends a dispute letter?

After CreditRefresh mails a dispute letter, the bureau receives it, contacts the data furnisher (the bank, lender, or collector that reported the item), and asks them to verify the disputed information. The bureau then deletes, modifies, or verifies the item based on what the furnisher reports back. The whole investigation has to be done within 30 days under FCRA Section 611.

How long does a dispute take

30 days. Federal law gives credit bureaus 30 days to investigate a dispute under FCRA Section 611, starting from the day they receive the letter. The window can extend by up to 15 days if you submit additional documents during the investigation. Most rounds resolve within 28 to 45 days from receipt.
