Free AI credit repair is not fully free. Free tools can scan your reports and draft dispute letters, but the mailing, the bureau coverage and the follow-through are where you pay in money or time. CreditRefresh is a flat $49.99 a month with Refresh Monitoring, with no setup fee, no per-dispute charge and no contract.

If you think your report has an error, the FTC’s 2013 report to Congress found that one in five consumers had one on at least one of their three credit reports. It also found that 5% had an error serious enough to raise the price they pay for credit. Then you search “free” and every tool says it. The real question is who does the work after the draft.

Is AI credit repair really free, or only the first step?

No, not on its own. Free AI tools scan your reports and draft dispute letters, and that part costs nothing. Cost shows up after the draft: who prints it, who mails it, who checks all three bureaus and who tracks the answer.

A free scan is not a mailed dispute. In our own setup, each round of letters is mailed by you or, for a small per-letter fee, through RushMail, our affiliated mailing partner. That fee applies only if you pick RushMail over mailing the letters yourself. The rest is bundled: CreditRefresh is included with Refresh Monitoring, $49.99 a month, so you know the price before you start.

What can a free AI credit tool actually do for you?

A free tool can read a report, flag items that look wrong and format a letter in seconds. According to the descriptions of the free options, Dovly AI offers a free tier that monitors your TransUnion report 24/7, flags errors automatically and files digital disputes without a setup fee. AngelAi has a free Credit Boost tool that works with your credit data and helps resolve erroneous adverse items. Kikoff generates dispute letters for free, alongside its credit-builder accounts.

Our scan covers all three bureaus and flags disputable items. We built it for people with real, disputable errors, and it writes a letter only when an item has grounds. A CreditRefresh customer, Rory D., gave us five stars on Trustpilot on September 20, 2026: “Found errors that I was unaware of in a very short time”

What can free AI credit repair not do, even when it is free?

It cannot make accurate information disappear. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Section 605 (1970), most negative items may be reported for seven years, and bankruptcy cases for up to ten. A tool that promises to remove accurate, current, verifiable information is a red flag.

What the law does give you is the dispute. Under FCRA Section 611 (1970), a bureau that gets your dispute must reinvestigate, generally within 30 days, and delete or correct what it cannot verify. A free draft starts that clock only after someone sends it. CreditRefresh is built to find and dispute errors, not to remove debts you legitimately owe.

Who mails your dispute letters, and what does it cost?

With a free tool you usually print and mail each letter yourself, paying for postage and your own time on every round. CreditRefresh drafts the letter for you to review and sign, and you either mail it yourself or have RushMail print and mail it for a small per-letter fee.

Downloading print-ready letters and mailing them yourself adds no fee from us, though you cover printing and postage. Our founder puts do-it-yourself with a chatbot at probably 4 to 5 hours or more per round, plus a trip to the post office. Membership payment does not authorize mailing. No letter leaves until you approve it.

Do free AI credit tools dispute with all three bureaus?

Not always. Dovly’s free tier monitors a TransUnion report, and some tools file disputes with a single bureau, so errors on the other two reports can go unchallenged. CreditRefresh reads your reports and drafts a letter for each flagged item across all three bureaus. A dispute that reaches one bureau does not fix the same error sitting at the other two.

Its Direct Dispute reaches TransUnion only and it does not draft or mail letters. Here is how the paid and free options line up:

What do people say free and cheap credit repair tools get wrong?

If you paid and got nothing, you are not alone. Among Dispute Beast’s most recent 1 and 2 star Trustpilot reviews, 21 of its 33 in its latest 200 say they paid for months and nothing changed.

The word “free” is what stings. Martin P. gave Dispute Beast one star on Trustpilot on August 25, 2026: “they say its free. Thats a lie its not.” Another reviewer, Chanbi, wrote in a one-star review of Dispute Beast dated August 1, 2026: “Support appears to go to an AI Bot and does not provide option for a representative.” DisputeBee shows the same pattern: 6 of its 10 most recent 1 and 2 star reviews in its latest 66 say nobody answers.

We priced ours up front. You pay $49.99 a month, and the one optional charge is RushMail.

How does a $49.99 AI tool compare with a $79 to $139 credit repair firm?

Traditional credit-repair firms commonly charge $79 to $139 a month plus a setup fee and often lock you into a contract. CreditRefresh is $49.99 a month with Refresh Monitoring, with no setup fee, no per-dispute charge and cancel-anytime terms.

The difference is who does the work. A firm acts on your behalf. We are software you control, and every letter is reviewed and signed by you before anything is sent. Fees matter because the regulator’s record on them is real: in 2023 the CFPB’s stipulated final judgment against Lexington Law’s parent entities covered collecting illegal advance fees for telemarketed credit repair and deceptive bait-and-switch advertising. Jennifer C. gave Lexington Law one star on Trustpilot on March 20, 2024: “Their policy read they would initially charge $14.95 but $99 was withdrawn from my account.”

What you actually pay when free runs out

Free gets you the draft. It does not get you the three-bureau coverage, the mailing or the 30-day tracking, so those cost you hours or dollars.

How CreditRefresh covers scan, letters and mailing for $49.99 a month

Free tools stop at the draft. We take you from report scan to letter to mailing in three steps, with nothing to learn and no training session. We pull reports from all three bureaus, scan for errors and FCRA violations, and draft a letter for each item with grounds, citing the specific issue and statutory basis. We track the 30-day clock and update you when responses come in.

Members rate us 4.6 across 22 reviews on Trustpilot. Jean L. gave us five stars on August 24, 2026: “I especially appreciate my support advisor Austin who’s responses were always “on -point” and valuable.”

It is $49.99 a month with Refresh Monitoring, no setup fee, no per-dispute charge, no contract. If you work the full program and none of your three bureau scores rises above where you started, you can claim back every Refresh Monitoring payment. That is a refund promise, never a score promise, and the conditions are at creditrefresh.ai/guarantee. You choose what gets disputed. You approve every letter. Nothing goes out without you.

Skip the paperwork. Start your dispute.

CreditRefresh drafts your FCRA dispute letter and tracks the 30-day investigation window. You review, approve, and send. You stay in control.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a truly free AI credit repair tool?

Free tools exist for the first step: scanning and drafting. Dovly AI offers a free tier, AngelAi offers Credit Boost and Kikoff offers free letter generation. The cost comes in mailing, bureau coverage and tracking.

Can a general-purpose chatbot write my credit dispute letter?

It can draft wording. It does not pull your three reports, track the 30-day clock or mail anything. Under FCRA Section 611 (1970), the bureau must conduct a reasonable reinvestigation, so a letter that names the specific item and grounds gives it something to investigate.

Will disputing accurate items hurt my credit score?

Dispute only what is inaccurate, incomplete, unverifiable or too old to report. Our AI drafts letters only for items with real grounds. While a bureau investigates, a note that the item is disputed can sit on the report, and small temporary score movement is possible. CreditRefresh is not a law firm, does not give legal advice, and results vary and are not guaranteed.

Do I need a credit monitoring subscription to use an AI dispute tool?

For ours, yes. CreditRefresh requires an active Refresh Monitoring subscription and is not sold on its own. It costs nothing extra: it is included at $49.99 a month.

How long do bureaus have to respond to a credit dispute?

Generally 30 days, and up to 45 in some cases, under FCRA Section 611 (1970). The clock starts when the bureau receives the letter, so add mail time at the front end. The CFPB’s Consumer Response Annual Report (2025) notes consumers frequently asserting that reinvestigations took more than 30 days.

Can I cancel CreditRefresh anytime?

Yes. There is no contract and no cancellation fee. If the cancel control does not work, email support@creditrefresh.ai from your account email with the request.

CreditRefresh drafts a letter for every item with grounds across all three bureaus, and you review, sign and mail each one for a flat price. Backed by a 100% money-back guarantee.
